3 Med units, Engine 4, and Rescue 3 were needed to extricate 3 victims of an MVA on February 9th at 3am. All were transported to Metro.

Thursday, February 9, 2012 at 06:25AM Parma Fire was notified today that we received an operations and Safety grant from FEMA to purchase high visibility & Blood Borne Pathogen safe outer gear for every firefighter. The project costs around $36,000 with the Feds paying 80 percent. Firefighters David Higginbotham & John Conroy applied for the grant bringing their total grant awards from FEMA to more than $2,250,000.
The new safety gear will help prevent injuries from being struck by vehicles & contamination from exposure to blood & body fluids.

Members attend an Advanced Cardiac Life Support class. All Paramedics must maintain an ACLS certification by attending a refresher every 2 years. Instructor Fetter is demonstrating a device that will assist in cardiac arrest patients by mechanically performing chest compressions.

The Parma Fire Department is on the scene investigating a fire in the 2200 block of Russell Ave. They received the call just after 4:00 am. Fifteen firefighters responded and found fire in the living room. Three adults were home and outside when firefighters arrived. The fire is being investigated for a cause and damage estimate.
Thursday, January 19, 2012 at 03:41PM Parma Elks Lodge #1938 presents a $750 check to the Parma Fire Depart ment S.W.A.T. medics. A Community Service Grant from the Ohio Elks Association was obtained to help in the purchase of soft body armor for their protection. Pictured from left: Medic Mike Whelan, Medic Tony Mlady, Capt.
