<p>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;We sadly announce the passing of John Kerchsbaum, retired Assistant Chief of the Parma Fire Department. &nbsp;Chief Kerchsbaum started his career in 1944. &nbsp;He was credited with serveral rescues thoughout his service on the Parma Fire Department. &nbsp;He retired as Assistant Chief in 1977. &nbsp;John was always a wealth of information when it came to preserving our Departments history. &nbsp;He was recently assisting Volunteers who are currently restoring one of the Departments original trucks. &nbsp;He will be missed by many.</p>

The project costs around $36,000 with the Feds paying 80 percent. <p>Members attend an Advanced Cardiac Life Support class.  All Paramedics must maintain an ACLS certification by attending a refresher every 2 years. <p>&nbsp;The Parma Fire Department is on the scene investigating a fire in the 2200 block of Russell Ave. They received the call just after 4:00 am. Fifteen firefighters responded and found fire in the living room. Three adults were home and outside when firefighters arrived. The fire is being investigated for a cause and damage estimate.</p>

<p>The Parma Fire Department responded to a fire at approximately 3:30 this morning in the 5900 block of South Park Dr, It took twenty firefighters about thirty minutes to extinguish the fire that originated in the basement and traveled through the floor into the upstairs. Firefighters found the residents with children outside the house upon their arrival awaken by smoke detectors. There were no injuries reported. The cause and dollar loss of the fire are under investigation at this time. (photo by Lt. Tesmer)</p>
